Our commitments
Our Purpose
Let’s free the oceans and land from further waste!
This can only be achieved when all the plastics and textiles already in-use are effectively reduced, reused and recycled.
This is the reason we rally forces and catalyze unprecedented expertise-based partnerships to innovate in biorecycling and biodegradation technologies.
It’s why, every day, we develop unique enzymes that make our core technologies thrive.
And why, every day, this teamwork makes the circularity of plastics and textiles possible at scale.
At CARBIOS, we are renowned scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. Nature is our inspiration.

Our Purpose in video
Our Purpose is reflected in the conduct of our day-to-day operations and in the attention paid to the core values upheld by the company and all of its employees.
Every day, through the commitment of our employees, and also our industrial and academic partners, we shape the path towards a more circular economy.
Since our employees embody the Purpose of Carbios every day, it was only natural that they should all take part in this video.

CARBIOS is B Corp™ certified!
Since its creation in 2011, CARBIOS has built a responsible business model, driven by a clear mission: tackling plastic and textile pollution while preserving natural resources.
By joining the B Corp™ community, we embrace a shared vision of building a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
This certification attests to our mission and our commitment to a circular economy for plastic and textiles. It also reflects our core values—Commitment, Passion for Innovation, Ambition, and Integrity—which guide our actions and drive us to innovate for lasting positive impact.
But being B Corp™ is above all a commitment: to keep improving every day to maximize our impact. We see this certification as a starting point—a framework that will reinforce our commitments and and enable us to progress alongside other companies that share the same vision.
Our sustainability report
The development of our solutions is based on a firm conviction that the transition to a circular model for the plastics and textile industry is possible.
Sustainable development is an integral part of our DNA.
This is reflected in the way we run our day-to-day operations, and in the attention we pay to the values upheld by the company and all its employees.
With this sustainability report, we want to share our sustainable development strategy, our values, and our ambitions with as many people as possible in order to contribute to the construction of a sustainable future and a circular economy, with all our stakeholders.
Mastering the end-of-life of plastics

Plastics are very present in our daily lives and have now become unavoidable.
With the development of our industrial societies, the generation of plastic waste has continued to grow and has led to an accumulation of plastic in the environment, creating multiple nuisances. Plastics, which today are still mainly of fossil origin, take around 400 to 500 years (World Wildlife Fund (Australia) in 2018) to degrade under natural conditions.
Better management of the end-of-life of plastics is a major challenge of our time and we intend to contribute to it!
The innovations we are developing are on the verge of industrialization and soon they will provide concrete answers to the end of life of plastics!

Circular economy
The circular economy involves a more efficient use of fossil resources, reduction of waste and lower energy consumption, the guidelines for the strategic development of a new, efficient and sustainable industrial ecology.
Carbios is fully committed to this circular economy and positive recovery approach of plastics and textiles through the development of biological processes that represent a radical technological and industrial breakthrough, namely innovative processes based on the use of enzymes to reinvent the plastic and textile polymer lifecycle.
Response to the regulatory environment
Numerous initiatives are taken, today, at both a European and national level, to promote the recycling of plastics and support the commitments made by the public authorities and manufacturers on sustainable development.
These recent regulatory changes, in favor of better life-cycle management of plastics, open up a major opportunity for the deployment of our technologies, and particularly for the enzymatic recycling of PET plastics and fibers.
Industrial response for brands
Our commitment to designing solutions with a positive impact feeds our long-term competitiveness to meet the major environmental and societal challenges of our time. With a technological offer that is unique in the world, we aim to engage producers and users of plastic and textile materials in a sustainable transition towards a true circular economy model.
Our values
Our corporate culture is built around 4 strong pillars shared by our employees and partners:
We are COMMITTED: Our teams and partners are committed to a truly circular economy on a daily basis.
We are PASSIONATE ABOUT INNOVATION: Thanks to high-level scientific research combining, for the first time, the worlds of enzymology and plastics processing, we innovate on a daily basis to offer high-performance, sustainable industrial solutions that meet the major environmental challenges of our time.
We are BOLD: Because there is an urgent need to take action against plastic pollution, we are undertaking bold projects and giving ourselves the means to bring them to fruition quickly.
We have INTEGRITY: At CARBIOS, we keep our promises: the agility of our teams and the diversity of their expertise enable us to rapidly propose reliable solutions and turn them into industrial realities. Integrity is the watchword in our ecosystem.
