Senior Research Scientist in enzyme engineering

YOUR PROFILE :

• PhD in Enzymology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemical engineering or a related field;
• The applicant must have more than 5 years of experience;
• Experience with enzyme engineering and enzyme library construction;
• Expertise with assay design and troubleshooting;
• Preferred experience with protein production, purification and characterization knowledge;
• Experience in plastic polymers would be a plus;
• Be a team player;
• Interested in collaborating with the project partners to develop new collaborations;
• Strong communication and organizational skills and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment;
• Some knowledge of the French language would be useful, however, non-French speakers should be fluent in English

JOB DESCRIPTION :

The successful candidate will be a key member of ambitious research projects focused on the engineering of enzymes degrading plastic polymers. We are interested in:

· strengthening the team on the PolyEthylene Terephthalate (PET) project to continue improving the current enzymatic process;

· starting new projects to new applications and new polymers. Identify, characterize and optimize new enzymes capable of degrading polymers such as polyamides, elastomers and polyolefins.

We are looking for a candidate who will conduct and oversee enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary approaches including but not limited to:

· the identification and development of any dedicated analytical methods related to the project;

· the implementation of methodologies related to enzyme/polymer interaction studies;

· the construction and the screening of enzyme libraries designed by in silico molecular modelling and design methods;

· setting-up dedicated screening methods for high throughput.

The successful candidate will be able to conduct independent research, plan and execute experiments, write research reports, and have strong communication skills
